Privacy Policy

Effective Date: June 8, 2026  ·  Developer: Ryan Watern  ·  privacy@fhpnotifier.com

The short version: FHP Notifier is designed to collect as little data as possible. We don't know who you are. We only store a device token and your notification preferences so we can send you the alerts you asked for, nothing more.
FHP incident data refreshes every 90 seconds from the FLHSMV public feed. That live data is never tied to you. It flows through, gets displayed, and that's it. Your preferences travel one way: to Firebase, so your alerts follow your settings.

1. Information We Collect

FHP Notifier collects minimal data necessary to provide the service:

Device Token

A unique identifier generated by Firebase Cloud Messaging used to deliver push notifications to your device.

Notification Preferences

Your in-app notification settings: the counties, troop zones, and incident types you have chosen to receive alerts for. These preferences are stored on your device and are also synced to Firebase Realtime Database, associated with your device token, so the backend can deliver only the notifications you have opted into. A 'last seen' timestamp is recorded alongside your preferences each time they change, used to identify and remove inactive device tokens.

Analytics Data

Pseudonymous data collected by Google Analytics for Firebase to understand aggregate app usage: an app instance identifier, IP-derived approximate country/region (your raw IP is not retained as part of your analytics profile), device model, OS version, language, app version, and in-app interaction events such as screen views and feature use. No personally identifiable information is sent.

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any personally identifiable information. We do not require account creation.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

  • Your name or identity
  • Your email address
  • Your precise location (unless you grant location permission for map centering, which is processed entirely on your device)
  • Payment information
  • Any personally identifiable information

3. How We Use Your Information

Device tokens and notification preferences are used solely to deliver and filter the push notifications you have opted into. The activity timestamp is used to clean up inactive records. Analytics data is used only to understand aggregate app usage and improve the app. We do not sell your data, do not share it with advertising networks or data brokers, and do not monetize it. Google processes analytics data on our behalf as a data processor; we do not enable Google Signals or any cross-app advertising features.

4. Analytics

FHP Notifier uses Google Analytics for Firebase, a service provided by Google LLC, to understand how the app is used and to improve it. Analytics collects a pseudonymous app instance identifier (assigned per install, not your name or any account identifier), your IP address (used only to derive approximate country/region - your IP is not stored as part of your analytics profile), basic device and operating system information (model, OS version, language, region), the app version, and in-app interaction events such as which screens you view and which features you use. We do not pass any personally identifiable information to analytics. We do not enable Apple's IDFA-based ad attribution and we do not request the App Tracking Transparency prompt. We do not use crash-reporting services. Google acts as a data processor on our behalf and does not use this data for advertising. For information on how Google uses data from apps that use its services, visit google.com/policies/privacy/partners.

5. Third-Party Services

FHP Notifier uses the following third-party services:

Firebase (Google) Cloudflare MapLibre CartoDB ArcGIS FLHSMV
  • Firebase (Google): Push notification delivery, storage of device tokens and notification preferences in Firebase Realtime Database, and aggregate product analytics via Google Analytics for Firebase.
  • Cloudflare: Content delivery and data hosting for the incident data feed.
  • MapLibre / CartoDB / ArcGIS: Map tile display.
  • FLHSMV: Public incident data source.

Each of these services operates under its own privacy policy. We are not responsible for the data practices of third-party services.

6. Data Retention

Device tokens and the associated notification preferences are retained in Firebase Realtime Database as long as the device remains active. Tokens that have not been seen for an extended period may be removed. You can clear all server-side data associated with your device by disabling notifications for FHP Notifier in your device settings, which will invalidate the token, and by uninstalling the application. Analytics data is retained by Google according to Firebase's default retention settings: user-level data (such as the app instance identifier) is retained for 2 months, and aggregated event data is retained for 14 months.

7. Children's Privacy

FHP Notifier is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the application, please contact us at privacy@fhpnotifier.com.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the application. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
